Three hours from now I'll be doing my free live job search Q&A for underappreciated professors, postdocs, and other PhDs ready to identify their next best role!I made slides for the first few minutes -- in part so that I don't forget what I want to cover -- and then I'll take your questions.Based on the questions submitted in advance, we'll have a lot of great topics to cover, including:"What positions make sense for PhDs?""How can I find a meaningful position outside academia?""How do I move forward in a job search when I feel stuck or I'm not finding any jobs that excite me?""Where should I begin looking for alternative career options?""How can I effectively search for non-academic positions and secure a great job offer?""What's the right job search strategy? Because what I'm doing now isn't working.""How can I make good choices about postdocs and alt-ac positions?"See you there? We start at 12pm today (Friday, 1 Dec).Registration link: https://lnkd.in/gquJexQH

Cool trends from The University of Georgia Class of 2023 (Me!) to read through! #classof2023 #jobmarket #tech #hybridwork #ai 💥 A summary from the article💥 The class of 2023 is facing a rapidly changing job market with evolving priorities. They care less about big-name companies and growth rates in their job searches. They are confident in their skills but recognize the need for continuous tech learning. Many have tech skills, even outside tech majors. They have mixed views on the impact of generative AI on their careers. While they appreciate remote work, they prefer in-person connections and favor hybrid work arrangements. They are increasingly interested in tech-related jobs in industries like retail, finance, and manufacturing. Top trending skills and companies reflect this shift in their preferences.

Roughly 52% of recent college graduates are working jobs that don't require a degree. And for those who find themselves underemployed after graduation, it can be difficult to get career earnings back on track. After a decade, 45% of graduates are still stuck in jobs that don’t require college, according to a report by the Burning Glass Institute and the Strada Education Foundation that looked at data related to educational attainment, employment and career trajectories of more than 60 million workers.
