Why are overnight summer camps so expensive? ›

One theory of the case around summer-camp stress posits that today parents are acutely aware of the competition for academically rigorous schools, and summer camps and activities are considered a mandatory complement to the academic school year—or a way to get a leg up. Rest assured, camping hygiene is taken seriously at sleepaway summer camps. Even if your child comes home a little 'stinkier' than they were at the beginning of the summer, it's almost guaranteed that they kept up with daily camp showers and other hygiene rituals while they were away.

Here are some of the potential downsides to summer camp: It can be expensive. Certain programs may increase pressure on kids to perform and/or compete. Absence from home and/or separation from family can result in anxiety.

Preteen years bring many changes in children's overall development. Children about 10 to 13 years old experience physical and emotional changes. Summer camp exposes them to activities that improve their critical and logical reasoning skills.

You should always wear swimwear or wrap a towel around your body. Never enter the sauna nude, as this is considered disrespectful in a public gym sauna. It is also important to remember that hygiene is key - avoid wearing sweaty clothing and never wear anything made of synthetic fibers like nylon or polyester.

Pool Deck Flooring

Our new flooring has been installed around the main entries to the lap pool and around our hot tub/steam room. Come by and see it!

Our Competition Pool is 25 yards x 25 meters. It includes 10 lap lanes, starting blocks, and spectator seating.

While activities vary at every camp, it's an experience that I think speaks to the larger concept of getting out of one's comfort zone. It's good to try new things and be exposed to feelings of discomfort. At camp, your child can try new things in a safe environment where everyone is in the same boat.

What was the budget for Sleepaway camp? ›

The movie was filmed in five weeks starting in September 1982 and ending in October on a budget of $350,000. The film had been storyboarded but after the first day of filming, the film was already behind schedule. The storyboards could not be used and were thrown out.

Most of our campers start when they are 8 or 9 years old, but we've also seen some mature 6- and 7-year-olds who are eager to bunk with new friends, as well as some 11- or 12-year-olds who just aren't ready yet.
